The first flight for Hajj pilgrims this year has taken off

Correspondent: The first flight for Hajj pilgrims this year has taken off from Hazrat Shahjajal International Airport to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

BG-1011, the first flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, with 401 pilgrims left Dhaka around 8:05am on Thursday.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Religious Affairs Minister Motiur Rahman saw off pilgrims at the airport.

Airport sources said a total of 1,676 piligrims are expected to leave Dhaka by four flights on Thursday.

A total of 1,01,758 Bangladeshis are expected to perform Hajj this year. Only 10,000 of them would perform Hajj under government management while 91,758 might perform the holy ritual under private managements.
