Magura Kali Temple failed mission held

Correspondent: Police on Tuesday night held three youths among four who searched for Kali temple`s priest of the district`s Natun bazaar area on Monday evening.

The detainees were identified as Sumon Ahmed, 25, son of Keramot Mollah of Kashinathpur village of Magura Sadar Upazila, Shahab Uddin, 20, son of Wahab Mollah of Roy village and Akash, 22, of Parla Beltola of the same upazila.

Another youth who went to the temple with the detainees was identified as Shaha Uddin Laskar, 20, son of Babul Laskar of Mirzapur village of the same upazila.

Earlier, Police claimed militants went to kill Kali temple priest at Natun Bazar of Magura, but failed.

The law enforcers suspected that some youths went to the temple to attack priest but returned back as the priest was absent at that time.

Police forces are trying to know the identity of the four youths checking CCTV camera footage.

Sudarshan Kumar Roy, senior assistant police super (circle) of Magura said riding a rickshaw, four youths went to Kali Temple at 7:12pm on Monday which was found in CCTV footages.

Later, the four youths entered into the temple and started to show suspicious behaviour. Something like chopper was seen in left hand of a youth.

At one stage, the youths left the temple when they came to know that priest was absent. Meanwhile, a youth was seen to talk over mobile phone.

Following the incident, additional police forces were deployed in temple.
