Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has vowed to face the High Court verdict against Tarique Rahman`s money laundering case through legal and political processes.
Tarique was sentenced to seven years` imprisonment and fined Tk 20 crore by the HC on July 21 in the case.
In reaction to the HC verdict, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the government, being revenged, appealed in the case in which Tareque was acquitted.
Mirza Fakhrul told this to the reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after he returned from London on Saturday noon.
He said government took strategies to convict Tareque through law suits to keep him out of politics.
“We unambiguously mention that the law suit and conviction was politically motivated. We will face it through legal and political processes,” said Mirza Fakhrul.EditorDesk | Published On:August 5, 2016
